Linedata has been awarded the 2024 Cas d'Or for Web Eco-Design, presented by the Cas d'Or du Numérique Responsable, in recognition of its efforts to evaluate and reduce the environmental impact of its website.
A Commitment to Sustainable Digital Practices
In 2022, Linedata embarked on a mission to assess the environmental footprint of its website and implement concrete solutions to improve its ecological performance. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to promoting digital sustainability.
The project began with an analysis using the EcoIndex, a tool that measures a website’s environmental impact based on criteria such as page weight and the number of server requests required for loading. These indicators help quantify CO2 emissions and associated water consumption.
By reviewing 125 best practices in eco-design, the team identified and implemented 116 applicable practices. After months of development, the site’s EcoIndex rating improved from category F to C, the highest achievable score for a site of this scale built on a Drupal CMS.
Results:
- A 13% reduction in CO2 emissions generated by the site
- A 25% reduction in water consumption associated with energy production
To ensure ongoing sustainability, all new developments and updates to the website are guided by the established best practices framework.
